Essays

Photography is more than just the mechanics of picture taking. Ernest Haas says, "A

picture is the expression of an impression....".  Of course, an impression can often be little

more than a fleeting thought or feeling born from the never-ending

stream of visual experience bombarding our everday world. Some

have taken this "first thought, best thought"approach and tapped

a creative gold mine. On the other hand, a more studied approach

to our subjects can often provide an endless stream of inspiration,

as we recognize the visual evidence of our emerging knowledge of

places and things. Even better, from our familiarity, springs imagination as we visualize life

in the past or future what we have come to know of the present. But whether from

a desire to find inspiration or simply to satisfy a natural curiosity, I've found the result of some

of our travels manifesting in a growing knowledge of certain regions and an innate desire to

share that information. Thus the essays of our photographic travels have found

this section of the site. Of course, it is a work in progress and will continue to take shape

put to pen some of these discoveries from our photo travels.
